What Is Foundayo™?
Foundayo™ is the brand name for orforglipron, a prescription medication FDA-approved for long-term weight management in adults. It is a once-daily oral tablet that is taken with or without food and swallowed whole. Another oral option is the Wegovy pill, an oral semaglutide tablet.
Foundayo™ is used together with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. It gives patients who would rather not use injections a real, modern option, and it works best as part of a complete plan that includes nutrition guidance, monitoring, and regular follow-up. That is exactly how we use it here.
Who Is Foundayo™ For?
Foundayo™ is FDA-approved for long-term weight management, used along with a healthier diet and more activity. In general, it is approved for:
- Adults with obesity
- Adults who are overweight and also have a weight-related condition, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, or sleep apnea
These are general guidelines, not a self-test. Whether Foundayo™ is right for you depends on your full health picture, and that is what your consultation is for. If Foundayo™ is not the best fit, your physician will walk you through other options.
How Foundayo™ Works
Foundayo™ works with hormones your body already uses to regulate appetite. When those signals are supported, you feel full sooner and your appetite settles down.
In simple terms, Foundayo™ helps by:
- Reducing hunger so you are not fighting your appetite all day
- Increasing fullness so you feel satisfied with less food
- Decreasing food intake by supporting appetite regulation
- Supporting healthier eating patterns alongside diet and activity
Why Patients Are Interested in Foundayo™
For many patients, the appeal of Foundayo™ is simple and practical:
- A once-daily oral tablet instead of a weekly injection, with no needles
- With or without food, so it fits more easily into your day
- Better hunger control, so weight loss does not feel like a constant willpower battle
- Less appetite-driven eating as part of a structured plan
- Physician monitoring and follow-up so treatment stays safe and on track
- A long-term plan built for lasting results, not a quick drop
Common Side Effects
Not everyone has side effects. Some people have none at all, while others notice a few, especially early on. When side effects do happen, they are most often digestive and tend to ease once your body adjusts. The most common ones include:
- Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
- Constipation
- Indigestion or heartburn
- Stomach pain, bloating, gas, or belching
- Headache or fatigue
- Hair loss
These effects are often more noticeable when starting or increasing the dose, and usually improve with time.
Tips to Minimize Side Effects
A few simple habits make a real difference, and we walk you through all of them:
- Eat smaller meals and stop when you are satisfied
- Eat slowly and try not to overeat
- Avoid heavy or greasy meals
- Drink water regularly to stay hydrated
- Limit alcohol
- Follow your treatment plan carefully
Is Foundayo™ Safe for Me?
That is exactly what your evaluation is for. Foundayo™ can be appropriate for some adults, but it is not right for everyone. Dr. Okoye reviews your full health history, current medications, and treatment goals to determine whether it may be a suitable option.
Foundayo™ is not used by people with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or MEN 2, or by people with a serious allergy to orforglipron or any of its ingredients. Your physician also reviews any history of pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, kidney problems, severe stomach conditions such as gastroparesis, severe liver problems, diabetic eye disease, and medicines that affect blood sugar.
Important Medication and Procedure Information
- Foundayo™ should not be used with another GLP-1 receptor agonist.
- Tell your physician if you use insulin, a sulfonylurea, simvastatin, or other oral medications because monitoring or medication adjustments may be needed.
- Tell every healthcare professional caring for you that you take Foundayo™, especially before surgery or a procedure involving anesthesia or deep sedation.
- Seek prompt medical advice for severe or persistent abdominal symptoms, repeated vomiting or diarrhea, signs of dehydration, vision changes, or symptoms of an allergic reaction.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Foundayo™ is not used during pregnancy, and breastfeeding is not recommended during treatment. Tell us if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. Oral birth control pills may not work as well while taking Foundayo™. Patients using oral hormonal contraceptives should use a non-oral method or add a barrier method for 30 days after starting Foundayo™ and for 30 days after each dose increase, as directed by their healthcare professional.
Insurance and Self-Pay
We accept Medicaid, Medicare, and most commercial insurance plans. Self-pay options are also available.
Coverage for Foundayo™ varies from plan to plan. Some plans may require prior authorization, and copays vary. Manufacturer savings programs may be available for some patients.
Visit coverage and medication coverage are separate and depend on your individual plan. Our team helps you review your coverage, handles prior authorization requests, and walks you through self-pay options if needed. You can learn more on our pricing, insurance, and self-pay page. The goal is simple: no surprises, and a clear path forward.
