Am I a candidate for Zepbound weight loss treatment?
• You may qualify for Tirzepatide (Zepbound) if you meet all of the following criteria:
• BMI of 30 or higher (or BMI of 27+ with a weight-related condition such as high blood pressure or high cholesterol)
• Age 18 or older
• No personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2 (MEN-II)
• No history of pancreatitis or gastroparesis
Tips & Tricks for Zepbound Use
Before Your Injection:
• Start on a Sunday or Monday evening – This allows you to contact your provider during office hours if needed.
• Let the medication warm to room temperature – Injecting cold medication may cause more discomfort at the injection site.
Eating & Drinking Tips:
• Eat something small when you wake up – A protein shake, plain crackers, or even a glass of water may help reduce morning nausea.
• Eat slowly and chew thoroughly – Since Zepbound slows digestion, eating too quickly can worsen nausea or bloating.
• Eat small, frequent meals – Focus on protein and vegetables, especially in the first few days after increasing your dose.
• Avoid eating out for the first few days after increasing your dose – Rich, high-fat, or high-carb foods may worsen nausea.
• Stay hydrated and replenish electrolytes – Drink plenty of fluids, especially if experiencing nausea or diarrhea. Consider electrolyte-rich drinks like Pedialyte or coconut water.
• Increase protein intake – A high-protein diet helps preserve muscle while losing fat and can improve energy levels.
Lifestyle Adjustments:
• Be cautious with alcohol – Some patients report increased sensitivity to alcohol while on Zepbound. The medication slows stomach emptying, which may intensify alcohol’s effects.
• Do NOT stop Zepbound suddenly – Obesity is a chronic condition, and stopping treatment without a provider’s guidance can lead to weight regain. Your provider can help develop a plan for discontinuation if needed.
